For the 4th year in a row the Flemish Administration for Science & Innovation has approved its support for the coordination of the ASEM Aquaulture Platform by the Laboratory of Aquaculture of the Ghent University.

On May 2nd, a proposal for a Coordination & Support Action was submitted under the EC 7th Framework Program as a follow up on the AqASEM activities.
The outcome of the evaluation is expected by the summer of 2007

The ASEM 6 Summit held in September 2006 decided to admit Bulgaria and Romania on the European side, and India, Mongolia, Pakistan and the ASEAN Secretariat on the Asian side to the ASEM process, upon their completion of the necessary procedures (for Bulgaria and Romania, upon their accession to the EU).

Early February 2007 a completely renewed 'ASEM Aquaculture Platform' website was launched. The site offers interesting new features such as newsfeeds, member sections, flexible content management, etc.
Some sections still lack useful content to make the site truly worthwhile but we hope to remedy this within the weeks to come. Meanwhile, welcome to the site and enjoy!

on April 2, 2005, 7 leading Vietnamese Fisheries & Aquaculture institutes decided to establish a consortium for closer cooperation.
The consortium was named ViFINET which stands for 'Vietnam Fishery & Aquaculture Institution Network'.
